The Curry Room

The exquisite Curry Room at The Rubens serves an inspired three-course menu created by Chef Arun Kumar, alongside an exceptional Thali. Working closely with our Executive Head Chef at our sister property, The Oyster Box Hotel in Durban, the team delivers an Indian restaurant experience that celebrates authentic flavours made with the finest ingredients and exclusively imported spices from India.

The intimate and supremely comfortable setting of the restaurant incorporates Rajasthani hand embroidery and rich red colours that reflect the vibrant diversity of the dishes. An extensive collection of old and new world wine has been carefully curated to complement the dining experience, with a fine selection from Bouchard Finlayson, our sister vineyard in South Africa. The menu also features popular Indian beers, including Kingfisher and Cobra. The Curry Room is proud to hold an AA Rosette.

We are also able to accommodate requests and make arrangements for special occasions and private dining through our online booking system.

Please let us know if you have any specific dietary restrictions/allergies when making a reservation, and ask us if you need further information. Experiences must be booked 24-hours in advance and full pre-payment will be due 7 days prior to arrival.

Dress code: Smart casual. We respectfully ask guests to refrain from wearing sportswear, flip-flops, and non-tailored shorts. Guest not adhering to the dress code policy will not be permitted entry.

Gourmet Chef Experience

With Chef Arun Kuma

Join Chef Kumar in the kitchen as you watch the chefs prep whilst you enjoy a glass of Champagne and canapés. Afterwards, indulge in Chef Kumar's three-course gourmet experience which incorporates dishes from our celebrated menu chosen to your taste and carefully paired wine by our Head Sommelier.

The experience must be booked 48-hours in advance and full pre-payment will be due 7 days prior to arrival.

Available: Thursday to Monday, 5.30pm and 6.15pm 
Price: £550 for two people, including wine pairings
Additional guests can be added for £275 per person (max of 4 people in a party)
